Okobo sandals worn by apprentice geisha or Maiko. Made from wood and beautifully woven rice straw. Lacquered base with painted gold crane detail. Hollow on the inside with bells that would tinkle whilst walking.
One bell is missing.
I was told these were made in the 1930s.
